Budget
“Our program costs are all through donations to the school’s PTSA donations not membership or other entities. So every penny counts! The Davis School District in hand with the Davis Education Foundation insures that every parent dollar is protected from fraud and that 100% of donations stay in our District. As Jodi Lunt of the Davis Foundation has said, “We don’t want to fundraise to give a percentage to the fundraising company’s CEO to have a 3rd vacation home. We want the money to stay here to help our students and schools!” So we do truly want to make sure funds we raise do the same!
We do this by following strict money tracking policies & collecting monies via approved and vetted vendors when there is need to do so. But most of the PTSA events are produced solely on Parent, Student, and Staff volunteers who give freely of their time to make local/school events accessible to every child. Our diverse activities have different price tags and we creatively find ways to execute the original visions of events by focusing on purpose, advocating for children, adding beneficial enrichment, and providing educational opportunities. We want to add the fun but also make sure that the shortcomings of our national school systems are met and every child has a chance to shine in this world”

PTSA is the extension of PTA into the Junior High and High School’s. It includes serving our student body, parents, and our school staff by advocating at State and National levels in legislative matters that effect our teachers & your student’s education. Having an organization with paying membership really adds weight to bills being passed and directing resources to under served areas. As a national or state PTSA organization, it really helps our representatives know what needs we see at local levels and want prioritized, changes to bill proposal wording, increase education budgets, and divert other resources to those local needs! (If you are interested in Advocating on a state level please see the UtahPTA.org website.)
On a school level, PTSA is a great way to add additional value to your student’s education and social opportunities. In fact we’d love to have your student’s input in our planning meetings and help us find great ways to include and reach the students through red ribbon week, lunch activities, and other social events. We would love to have an actual student leadership branch of PTSA that really runs the show! We also would like to mention how a PTSA student membership will look on resumes for their future opportunities! There is also PTSA scholarships available when they are applying for colleges. So please invite your student to consider just having a membership not only for THEIR Future but also for THEIR Fun they can be apart of during their school years!
For parents and school staff, PTSA is just one way you can jump in and volunteer at the school! You can always jump in on other planning committees via clubs, student body officers, hope squad, sport activities, and the music and arts. We would love to have you volunteer on any level you are able—red ribbon week, dance chaperones, concessions, ….even babysitting for someone else to be able to volunteer. A few minutes, one event— virtually or in person, or just via purchasing membership is all great ways to participate! More help is always needed and we can certainly find your niche if you have bigger desire to volunteer. We would love chairmen for specific responsibilities—such as coordinating signups for providing food items for the Teacher meal we offer at Parent/Teacher conferences every quarter. So please see the Calendar & Volunteering tab for signups if you can help out.
PTSA Penny War
Parents/Students: Click this link to digitally donate to your student’s grade Penny War Jar. Labeled grade Jars for coin/cash collection are located in the Commons area by the front office. The penny/cash vs. silver coin rules— Penny/Cash are positive points for your selected grade. Silver coins negatively sabotage another grade’s jar. Digital donations online will ONLY be positive points on their grade jars. You can enter your donation by grade there on DSDgive. You can also purchase your student’s or parental PTSA membership there as well. Please also take a second and consider donating in the other school departments fundraisers —Orchestra, robotics, sports, etc. We’d love whatever donations we can get but we understand sometimes its more important to help a specific department that is struggling to update old instruments or send a team to a competition.
Remember donations to any of these are tax deductible and businesses or individuals are welcome to donate/sponsor—NO marketing/advertising of the PTSA donations are allowed.
Calendar and Volunteering
Please click our PTSA/Givebacks website link or watch for the weekly bulletin the school sends out—our events will be mentioned there too. To sign up to volunteer at our events, please click this link.
